Tanganyikan Breeding Shells

9 In stock

Many Tanganyikan Cichlids, such as shell dwelling Neolamprologus species, utilize shells for protection, homes, and most importantly, places to breed and raise their young. Here at our tropical fish hatchery, we use Apple Snail shells that have been collected in the field to put in a sandy substrate in fish tanks to give many of our shell swelling fish a place to breed. The fish raise their young in the shells until they are old enough to venture out on their own.

Sizing will vary due to the nature of being naturally occurring shells but we can guarantee the following dimensions

Shell Diameter: 1"-1.5" or greater

Shell Opening Size: 1"-1.5" x 2.0"
