Black Ghost Knife (Apteronotus albifrons)
Out of stock
Remarks: Black Ghost Knife (Apteronotus albifrons) fish are a very popular odd-ball in the aquarium hobby. They do not have much in the way of vision, so they swim using small electrical pulses to sense where it is. Because they are nocturnal and prefer to hide during the day, many fishkeepers drop small, clear tubes into the tank for them - the electrical pulses sense the tubes and deem them "safe," but the fish are still visible to the aquarist!
They swim using their long anal fin, allowing them to move forward and backward with ease. They are predatory and will eat any small fish present, so it is best to keep them with larger, non-aggressive species. They will quickly outgrow most tanks under 100 gallons.
