Remarks: A sandy substrate is necessary for all Geophagus due to their earth-eating habits. Geophagus sp. Caqueta is a Colombian species found in the Rio Caqueta. They are a golden color with faint tiger stripes and a dark spot around the third stress bar. They are similar in appearance to G. abalios but have more stripes and yellow fins, rather than red.
