Remarks: Ophthalmotilapia ventralis are part of a group of Tanganyikan cichlids called Featherfins. Males have elaborate pelvic fins that extend through the anal fin and end in bright egg spots. This species is fairly active and requires a large space for swimming, both in the open and among rock piles.
