Penguin Tetra (Thayeria boehlkei)

6 In stock

Remarks: Penguin Tetras (Thayeria boehlkei) are peaceful schooling fish from the Amazon. They have a black lateral band that begins just behind the gills and runs through the caudal peduncle, where it turns to follow the bottom half of the caudal fin to its tip. This hockey-stick pattern makes them very beautiful when swimming among tall, grassy plants such as Vallisneria or between floating roots from Water Lettuce.

Penguin Tetras do well with larger South American cichlids such as Angelfish and Discus. They are slow-moving fish that tend to hover in place for long periods of time, which allows other fish to relax in their presence. We recommend them for any tank larger than ten gallons.
