Remarks: Satanoperca jurupari are closely related to Geophagus species and require a sandy substrate due to their earth-eating habits. S. jurupari differ from their relatives, S. leucosticta, by having fewer blue spots on the face and nose. Their bodies shine a metallic gold and they are fairly peaceful for their size.
