(Apistogramma piaroa)
Out of stock
Remarks: Males will have longer, pointed fins and more color. Females will turn bright yellow with black fins when in breeding dress. Apistogramma piaroa are closely related to A. megaptera, and in fact this batch of fish arrived with both species. The key distinction is a taller dorsal fin in A. piaroa. We believe the three males we have for sale are the correct species, but there is a chance they are A. megaptera, so please breed them at your own risk.
Breeding is achieved by feeding live baby brine shrimp to an adult pair and providing a proper tank setup. Fry are guarded by one or both parents for several weeks. Dither fish such as small tetras and livebearers can be used to provide parents with targets to chase.
